Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle on Black Sand Beach The Aloha State contains numerous options for education. School age children may attend public or private schools or be homeschooled. Hawaii also boasts impressive colleges and universities.

Major universities include the public University of Hawaii (UH) System, comprised of three universities and seven community colleges, and educating over 50,000 students with over 600 programs. The three UH university branches are UH at Manoa, UH at Hilo, and UH at West Oahu. Hawaii Pacific University is the Aloha State’s largest private university. Chaminade University, in Honolulu, is a private Catholic university with a liberal arts emphasis.
