Family will need to be out there latest by spring 2020. We are trying to figure out the best ways to move from California to O’ahu, from shipping companies to move our major belongings and car to how to find a place to rent in what family safe area, we have 2 small children in kindergarten ages so a safe neighborhood is a must and we can work with a 1b to a 2b home. These are the major concerns for us.

We always stay in Makaha Plantation Condos. We will be buying one for retirement in a few years. We love Waianae. Locals are amazing and so friendly.

If you’re seeking affordable (relatively so) on Oahu, you’re going to live far from the island’s employment centers, (in the island’s western communities such as Ewa Beach and, further still, Waianae), and you’re going to have to go condo. The condominium where I live (Makaha Valley Towers) has studio units selling in the $140,000 range, just about the least expensive home ownership in all the islands.
