Let me know in this form below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe aria-label='LIH YouTube Question' frameborder=\"0\" style=\"height:1000px;width:99%;border:none;\" src='https:\/\/forms.zohopublic.com\/cybercominc\/form\/LIHYouTubeQuestion\/formperma\/UcpXzbswbymy8griHmgcMWFcnbpWMQ9VyiiRALwBbl0'><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Transcript:<\/h2>\n<p>you know i get questions from people all<br \/>\nthe time about getting a job um<br \/>\nyou name it the whole gamut i&#8217;ve even<br \/>\ncreated an online course of how to get a<br \/>\njob in hawaii i have a blog post 10<br \/>\nsteps to a job in hawaii it&#8217;s a big deal<br \/>\nthis video i&#8217;m gonna share a story of<br \/>\nthat really explains and makes it clear<br \/>\nwhy you won&#8217;t get a job in hawaii unless<br \/>\nyou follow our steps<br \/>\n[Music]<br \/>\naloha<br \/>\ni&#8217;m peter k and i connect with people<br \/>\nthat want to live in hawaii so if that&#8217;s<br \/>\nyou you want to subscribe to the channel<br \/>\nand get the notifications we make a<br \/>\nvideo every other week so the story i<br \/>\nwant to share with you today is<br \/>\nabout my friend scott and<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s lived here for decades but he<br \/>\nshared a great story you know i went<br \/>\nwent for a job application at the hilton<br \/>\nwaikaloa village when i moved over to<br \/>\nthe big island in<br \/>\nman look at the view here hope you&#8217;re<br \/>\nenjoying this<br \/>\nwell his first mistake<br \/>\nis that he was clueless of local customs<br \/>\nin this case the dress code<br \/>\nand i go into the room to turn in my<br \/>\napplication you know button down shirt<br \/>\nbecause now that he&#8217;s lived here for 20<br \/>\nyears he knows that was his first<br \/>\nmistake which is a little strange<br \/>\nespecially for the big island resort<br \/>\ncommunity but back then<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s thinking<br \/>\ni got this and there&#8217;s some people on<br \/>\nboard shorts slippers and uh<br \/>\nyou know t-shirt turning their<br \/>\napplication in and i&#8217;m you know straight<br \/>\nfrom straight off the boat from the<br \/>\nmainland i&#8217;m thinking i&#8217;m gonna get the<br \/>\njob for these guys until he learns one<br \/>\nof his first biggest lessons about<br \/>\nhawaii and getting jobs<br \/>\nand the one of the guys goes up oh hey<br \/>\nauntie jane you know it gives the<br \/>\napplication oh hey brother kimono how<br \/>\nyou been you know are you looking so<br \/>\ngood nowadays<br \/>\nso what do you think will scott with the<br \/>\ntie get the job or will it go to the guy<br \/>\nin the board shorts and the t-shirt<br \/>\nwhose auntie is the hr director and then<br \/>\ni was it didn&#8217;t get a call for like a<br \/>\nmonth and a half for for the application<br \/>\ni was like oh yeah well if you guessed<br \/>\nhe wasn&#8217;t gonna get the job you guessed<br \/>\nright which really brings us to the<br \/>\nmoral of the story it doesn&#8217;t matter<br \/>\nnone of this stuff matters it&#8217;s who you<br \/>\nknow not what you know over here and<br \/>\nwhat you&#8217;ve done it doesn&#8217;t matter what<br \/>\nyou know in hawaii it matters who you<br \/>\nknow<br \/>\nand what you&#8217;ve done now if you&#8217;ve done<br \/>\nany job hunting at all<br \/>\nyou know that the network<br \/>\nis important no matter where you&#8217;re<br \/>\nlooking for a job the best jobs go to<br \/>\nthose who have the best networks just<br \/>\nlike in this case that anti probably<br \/>\ngave the job to her nephew it&#8217;s just<br \/>\nthat in hawaii<br \/>\nthose networks are more meaningful than<br \/>\never they mean more than they do<br \/>\ni would say anyplace else<br \/>\nbecause that&#8217;s all we&#8217;ve got and<br \/>\ntherefore if you don&#8217;t have a local<br \/>\nnetwork you are at a huge disadvantage<br \/>\nwhich is why when you apply for a job<br \/>\nfrom the mainland<br \/>\nit&#8217;s almost impossible to get the job<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s always exceptions but it&#8217;s<br \/>\nalmost impossible certainly you will be<br \/>\nat a huge disadvantage to someone who<br \/>\ndoes have a local network all right got<br \/>\na question for me click on the link in<br \/>\nthe description there&#8217;s a form fill out<br \/>\nthe form tell us your name and where you<br \/>\nlive<br \/>\nso that we can give you credit on a<br \/>\nvideo i&#8217;m peter k<br \/>\nand i am living in the land of aloha<br \/>\nwhat a beautiful day today where jobs<br \/>\nare plentiful if you have the right<br \/>\nnetwork<br \/>\naloh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What does it take to get a job in Hawaii?
